Used, solid condition, Gen 2+, Photonis/Belop (Photonis made them, Belop labeled them, they’re high spec 4g tubes) are always a solid choice. What you lose in performance at the lowest light levels inside buildings and the like, you make up for with much higher impact resistance.
Im kind of a PVS7 freak, so this was a VERY interesting device to me.
Housing is an Indian army housing, which is very interesting, it uses American made collimator, is clearly based off the American housing, with a number of small improvements like brass threaded inserts for the boDy screws, a shelf in the housing for the circuit board, and most interestingly, a lightweight objective lens. It keeps the heavy aluminum bell for strength, over the American lightweight, which went plastic, and an even lighter lens, which reminds me a lot of RPO optics, they sacrifice some performance to save a ton of weight, almost 30 grams in this case, even with the heavier aluminum bell. The downside is more internal reflections, but its not a deal breaker, I can see why they chose this.
Overall, solid tube, solid housing, good general purpose device. Its likely this is going to be a very collectable device, as there aren’t many Indian PVS7s out there.
